Let’s indulge in lack of freedom, if only for a while. The pleasure of confinement and predetermination, erasing all doubts. The situation where all that takes place despite the limited space is exceptional, fragile and precious.
Lack of freedom. Something we fear. The impossibility to take a decision. To leave when we want to leave, wherever we want to go with whomever we want to. To do whatever we want to. Seeing an immense ocean of possibilities that remain forbidden to us.
We are very well aware of what is lack of freedom. But do we know what freedom is? How to find inner peace within freedom? How come the possibility of unlimited choices paralyses our capacity to make a decision, to truly believe in something, to be truly impassioned? To reach a palpable goal that is standing right in front of our eyes in the haze. The fatigue arising from the incessant search for the goal.
About the company
The dance group VerTeDance has been acting on the Czech dance scene since 2004. The members are Veronika Kotlíková and Tereza Ondrová, dancers and choreographers. In October 2012 the company received The Theatre Journal Prize for Simulante Bande. VerTe’s “home stages” are Ponec and Archa theatres. The company has, however, presented its productions in the Czech regional cities and towns as well as abroad. VerTeDance is the only Czech dance group to be three times awarded by the most prestigious award in the field of contemporary dance – the Dance Piece of the Year prize. They won it in 2005 for The Silent Talk-Unpredictable Course, in 2012 for What Is The Weight Of Your Desire? and in 2014 for Correction.
