Czech Theatre Related Exhibitions of Touring the World - V. Smoláková, M. Potůčková, D. Pařížková

Successful exhibitions curated by the Theatre Institute in Prague continue to travel throughout the world. Here are a couple of highlights of the exhibits that can be seen in your area, as well as an update from the Secretariat of the Prague Quadrennial.

 

“Petr Lébl: I am no Artist…” - The Phenomenon Continues

Beginning March 27, 2006 – Przemysl, Poland

 

The exhibition Petr Lébl: “I am no Artist…” will be on display during a conference and showcase celebrating International Theatre Day. The main theme of the event will be Theatre of Moral Unrest. The cross-sectional exhibition includes over 30 panels describing the works of one of the most controversial artists from the end of the 20th Century, Petr Lébl. Works on display will include designs, photographs and documentation from his early amateur beginnings to the highlight of his career – the Chekhov productions at the Theatre on the Balustrades.

Czech Theatre Autumn

October 2 – 5, 2006 – Saint Petersburg, Russia

 

The exhibition of “Czech Theatre Photography” will be the premiere presentation of the photographic works of Viktor Kronbauer. The exhibition of the leading Czech theatre photographer, recipient of numerous international awards, will present over 50 photographs of contemporary Czech theatre productions (including Czech productions of the Russian classics) - in cooperation with the Consular General of the Czech Republic in Saint Petersburg.

 

 

After the Success of Rio de Janiero and Sao Paulo, Svoboda Continues His Latin American Tour

March 31st – April 30th, 2006 – Bogota de Fé, Columbia

 

The exhibition Josef Svoboda – Scenographer will be on display from March 31st to April 30, 2006, at the Ciudad del Teatro (Corferias), Bogota de Fé, Columbia, during the Festival Iberoamerica de Bogota. The exhibition will contain oversized colour and black and white photographs, stage models, and video projections will chart the career and world famous works of outstanding Czech scenographer, Josef Svoboda. Curator of the exhibiiton, Helena Albertová, will open the exhibition and will also give lectures on the life and work of Josef Svoboda to the professional theatre public.

 

 

Prague Quadrennial 2007 – June 14th to 24th, 2007

Cameroon and Mongolia are the latest countries to be added to the list of nations that will present their professional theatres and stage designs during the Prague Quadrennial 2007, bringing the current total to 57 countries. Another important element of the PQ will be the project for students, schools and teachers, Scenofest 2007, organized by the Theatre Institute in Prague and the OISTAT Education Commission. Initial submission of interest should be made by registering online at the following address www.oistat.org/registration by April 15th 2006.
