About the Production: A black hole could be anything, including a cosmic formation that has detached itself from our outer space and represents a separate world. A production created on the basis of the "directed improvisation" of the cast plays with the abilities and possibilities of human perception of time and space, reality and subconscious. It portrays an independent world, which is governed by different rules than what we would most likely expect. But it is the world in which we are living right now, only we perceive it differently. Black Hole is a play that reminds us, through strong theatrical techniques and experiences, that nothing is unambiguous; everything can be different many times over. One tiny movement, slight hesitation, or just a thought, and everything changes, including space and time, among other things, two irreplaceable magical components of the theatre.
About the Company: Dejvické divadlo is currently one of the most soughtout theatres in the Czech theatre scene, even though it does not have a long history. It was founded by the Prague 6 Metropolitan District in 1992 at a time when, rather than on theatres, attention was focused more on the big social and political changes taking place after the Velvet Revolution in November 1989. When the founding company (together with its artistic director Jan Borna) left, director Miroslav Krobot, who concluded his six-year engagement with the National Theatre, became the artistic director of the theatre in 1997. The company has changed significantly during its 18-year history, and its own collective stage creations have been supplanted by a repertoire that lays stress on working with the actor and honouring his/her individuality.
