The Arts and Theatre Institute introduces Jan Dušek's work
We would like to cordially invite you to a chamber exhibition of scenic and costume designs by artist Jan Dušek; it introduces a selection of his work and it is a presentation of the newest acquisitions of the Section of Collections and Archive of the Arts and Theatre Institute (ATI). You can see the exhibition in the Small Hall of the ATI every day from 9 am to 5 pm from the 1st March 2010.The ATI collection, Stage-Design Sub-Collection, was founded in 2006 when it was listed in the Central Registration of Collections managed by the Ministry of Culture and it is focused of contemporary stage design and personalities who have significantly influenced the shape of Czech theatre after 1945. In the Small Hall, you can see Dušek's older works (a scenic design for the staging of Hlučná samota/Loud Solitude directed by Evald Schorm in the Theatre on the Balustrade in 1984) as well as contemporary works you can see on theatre stages (Odcházení/Leaving – Klicpera Theatre in Hradec Králové or Mikve/Mikveh – National Theatre in Prague). Jan Dušek ranks among our most important stage designers, he studied with prof. František Tröster at DAMU in Prague where he has been teaching since the end of 1970s and he has been the head of the Stage Design department since 1991.
The exhibition will last until the end of April 2010. At the beginning of May, it will be substituted by the presentation of stage design works by Petr Lébl because of the anniversary of his 45th birthday he did not live to.
