About the Production: This performance, based on the themes in Ota Pavel's famous A Tale about Raška, ranks in the category of "experimental performances". The show takes place in an unusual space of a small unroofed arena. The audience should feel as though they are in the stands located around the landing zone at the bottom of a ski-jump hill somewhere in the high mountains. The mountains and the ski-jump towers form the main-stage set of this winter fairytale about a little boy who wants to climb a high mountain and then fly higher and higher... A Tale about Raška could have been subtitled "Based on A True Story". The author, the great Czech writer Ota Pavel, followed recorded facts in writing this story. At the same time he skillfully heightened the evident magical aspects of the story of a poor boy who came to fortune and won the first gold medal at the Winter Olympic Games for the Czechs. Consequently, A Tale about Raška is an ideal performance for little children and their parents - eyewitnesses.
About the Company: Naivní divadlo is represented by an artistically mature group of actors and an interesting board made up of guest directors who continuously search for new performance techniques. Young artists are also given an opportunity to make their first creative experiments. New productions are created with or without puppets and with the use of masks or brand costumes. Naivní divadlo performs at international festivals all over the world and also organizes the Mateřinka international festival, focusing on puppet performances for pre-school age children.
