A seminar on the occasion of 100th anniversary of puppet press: Contemporary Means of Media Communication

A seminar on the occasion of 100^th anniversary of puppet press will take place at the festival Skupa’s Plzeň, the festival of Czech professional puppet and alternative theatre, in the Puppet Museum in Plzeň on Thursday 21^st June. The seminar will focus on options in publication of theatre magazines

We will deal with essential question whether such specialized periodicals should be printed or published on the Internet and we will speak about using social networks as a tool for communication. Contributions dedicated to history of the Loutkář (Puppeteer) magazine (Alice Dubská, Pavel Vašíček). Speaking about the future, Eleanor Margolies, editor-in-chief of the Puppet Notebook, and Anke Meyer, the editor-in-chief of the German magazine Double, will introduce their experience with puppet press.

An exhibition of graphic pieces dedicated to the Puppeteer magazine will be a part of the symposium – their authors are significant artists who are somehow connected with the world of puppet theatre or film (e.g. Adolf Born, Jan Švankmajer, Jiří Suchý, Petr Nikl, Jiří Barta, Jan Schmid and others).
