Nine artists have been nominated for the Minister of Culture Award in the field of theatre, music and visual arts and architecture. Minister of Culture Vitěslav Jandák will give the awards on October 25, 2005 at the former St. Anne´s Cathedral in Prague.
The jury of theatre experts nominated three individuals:
- famous puppet and drama director, playwright and internationally renowned pedagogue Josef Krofta,
- Director Ladislav Smoček, whose work is associated to the Drama Club, and
- Lyricist, dramatist, actor, director and artist, Jiří Suchý, who was also the co-founder of the Semafor Theatre.
Three individuals have been nominated in the field of music: soprano Gabriela Benečková, long time vocalist of the National Theatre in Brno, Richard Novák, and composer Alois Piňos. In the field of visual arts, Dalibor Chatrný, Stanislav Kolíbal and Adriena Šimotová have been nominated.
Each of the three juries is composed of a panel of experts from that particular field. The members of the jury are nominated by the Minister of Culture, and remain on the jury for three years. This is the last year for members of these juries.
The evening programme will be moderated by Petra Špalková and the author and director of the ceremony will be Michal Caban. The programme will be televised on Czech national television on October 28, 2005.
